About the Organization and Opportunity
Organization: RIEEA is a collaborative network of professionals, students, and organizations working to support and promote high-quality environmental education throughout the state. We support lifelong learning opportunities, environmental justice advocates, and a wide variety of community members across the state by: fostering collaboration and partnerships; sponsoring professional development opportunities; gather and disseminate information on environmental education; promote public understanding of the value of an environmentally literate community; offer personalized support for educators; and advocate for sound environmental education legislation on a local, state, and federal level.
Opportunity: Exciting new FREE resource for teachers! The Rhode Island Environmental Education Association (RIEEA) has created a series of engaging lessons to boost environmental literacy and workforce readiness for Rhode Island high school students. The four hands-on units – in ecology, land conservation, sustainability, and water resources – mix classroom learning, outdoor experiences, and use of iPlan, a free educational online tool that allows students to explore and solve real-world land-use challenges! Aligned with state standards and tested in high schools around the state, these lessons complement and enhance your curriculum, or can be used on their own in both formal and nonformal settings. Ready to inspire the next generation of environmental leaders?
