How Do Experiential Learning Opportunities Prepare the Workforce of Tomorrow?

  • Real-World Skills Development: Students gain hands-on experience, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge in practical settings, which enhances their problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

  • Industry Exposure: Through internships and apprenticeships, students familiarize themselves with industry standards, workplace culture, and emerging technologies, making them more adaptable and relevant to employers.

  • Soft Skills Enhancement: Experiential learning opportunities foster essential soft skills, such as teamwork, communication, and time management, which are crucial for success in any professional environment.

How Will the Rhode Island Experiential Learning Navigator (RIEXL) Benefit Employers?

  • Talent Pipeline Creation: By partnering with local educational institutions, employers can access a pool of motivated, skilled candidates who are already familiar with their industry, reducing recruitment costs and time.

  • Enhanced Brand Visibility: Listing opportunities on the RIEXL Navigator increases company exposure among potential employees, showcasing commitment to community engagement and workforce development.

  • Feedback and Innovation: Engaging with students through experiential learning programs allows employers to gain fresh perspectives and insights, fostering innovation and improvement in their business practices.

  • Curated Opportunities: All experiential learning options on the RIEXL will be vetted by Junior Achievement of Rhode Island (JA) staff, ensuring quality connections between educators and employer partners. JA will collaborate with educators and administrators to identify their specific needs, actively recruiting existing and new employer partners to meet those requirements.

"There is no substitute for hands-on experiential learning. Students who can see, hear, and touch real world business projects and operations are better prepared to navigate their career pathway."
